Hyundai Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go
What is Hyundai Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go?
Cruise control is a great feature that alleviates some of the stress that comes along with highway cruising. Unfortunately, traffic rarely stays at the same pace, causing you to frequently apply your brakes and/or reset the cruise control speed—until now! Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go, a driver-assist feature from the Hyundai SmartSense advanced safety pack, allows Iowa drivers to program their desired speed and their preferred distance between them and the vehicle ahead.
Buckle up and take a ride with Vern Eide Hyundai Sioux City as our staff takes you on a quick tour of Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
How does Hyundai Smart Cruise Control work?
Using a host of radars, Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go will help your Hyundai car or SUV maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front of you while also traveling at the programmed speed. If you slow down to 6 MPH or less, SCC will automatically shut off, but the system will reactivate if the vehicle ahead begins moving within 3 seconds.
How do you use Smart Cruise Control on a Hyundai?
For Hyundai vehicles equipped with Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go, the system is easy to turn on and off. Below is a list of steps to engage the SCC system:
- Activate SCC by pressing the CRUISE button on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.
- Press the resume/set (RES/SET) switch down to set your desired speed or reduce the vehicle’s speed.
- Press the resume/set (RES/SET) switch up to resume cruise control or increase the vehicle’s speed.
- Once the SCC system is engaged, you can program the desired minimum distance between you and the car ahead by pressing the vehicle to vehicle distance button (a car icon with 3 lines beneath it) on the right-hand side of the steering wheel. Each time the button is pressed, the distance will change, with distance 4 being the furthest and distance 1 being the closest. Please note, SCC will remember the last distance setting you used every time the system is turned on or off, and every time the vehicle is restarted.
Touchscreen Display Audio
You can also adjust the distance setting used by the SCC system via the touchscreen display audio or by using the steering wheel-mounted controls. For Hyundai vehicles with touchscreen display audio, simply follow the steps below:
- Make sure you’ve started your Hyundai vehicle.
- Press the setup button on the dash.
- Tap the Vehicle icon on your touchscreen display audio.
- Next, choose Driver Assistance and then tap on SCC reaction.
- From here you can select either Normal, Fast, or Slow.
Without Touchscreen Display Audio
For Hyundai Hyundai models without the touchscreen display audio, use the following steps below:
- Make sure you’ve started your Hyundai vehicle.
- Press LCD display control button on the right-hand side of the steering wheel, which will bring you to the user settings menu on your instrument panel.
- Press the button to the left of your RES/SET switch to select Driver Assistance and then choose SCC Reaction.
- From here you can select either Normal, Fast, or Slow, pressing the button until you find your desired speed setting.
